Saturday’s pick goes in the…

4.30 Haydock

Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.

Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.

Voix d’Eau at 11/4 BOG.

It’s a very simple approach today with a 6yr old gelding who finished 5th and then 3rd in two runs over hurdles before embarking on a chasing career that has seen him finish in the first three home on all five occasions.

He has won three of those five contests in a form line reading 12131 including a Gr 2 success at Cheltenham last time out. In those five chase contests, he is 3/4 going left handed, 3/4 in handicaps, 2/3 on Good ground and 2 from 3 under today’s jockey Michael Legg.

In that latest run, he comfortably dealt with the challenge from 144 rated Art Mauresque, who franked the form by winning in this grade at Newton Abbot on Wednesday.

And to the numbers…

He’s trained by Harry Fry, who is great form with 5 winners and 3 further placers from 14 runners in the last week and three of his last six chasers have been successful and he comes here boasting a NH handicap record of 42 winners from 199 (21.1% SR) for 33.4pts (+16.8% ROI) profit since the start of 2013, broken down as follows…

  • at odds of 5/4 to 8/1 : 38/158 (24.1% SR) for 44.2pts (+28% ROI)
  • chasers are 17/65 (26.2% SR) for 36.1pts (+55.5% ROI)
  • LTO winners are 13/52 (25% SR) for 16.7pts (+32.1% ROI)
  • those running after a break of 21-30 days are 12/44 (27.3% SR) for 17.5pts (+39.7% ROI)
  • whilst those ridden by Michael Legg are 6 from 13 (46.2% SR) for 23.7pts at an ROI of 182.4%
