5.10 Doncaster : Moon River @ 4/1 BOG 2nd at 2/1 (Led, ridden over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, kept on towards finish, beaten a neck)

Monday’s pick goes in the…

4.00 Ayr :

Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.

Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.

Dark Crystal e/w at 20/1 BOG + (Ladbrokes)

Chris is celebrating renewing his vows and having a day off to recover from the big day yesterday, so it’s Matt in the chair, and I’m taking a bit of a chance, so bear with me…

A massive price to start the week and obviously if you’re backing it, you need to appreciate we’re looking at back class here. The case goes something like this:

Dark Crystal has three wins from twelve runs at Ayr, and another two placed efforts. One of his wins was over course and distance, and his most recent CD effort was a fine second of twelve on similar ground last September.

His seven furlong form is strong – 1604913328 – and his five career wins have been at 40/1, 20/1, 14/1, 12/1 and 11/4. In other words, he’s capable of popping up at a price.

Dark Crystal has not been beaten far on his last three starts and, back to a preferred course and distance, he could be ready to fire.

Let’s try half a point each way on Dark Crystal at 20/1 BOG + with Ladbrokes. Alternatively…
