Race of the Day – 19:25 Ballinrobe
We head to Ireland for today’s Race of the Day and a Class 4 handicap just shy of ten furlongs. There are eight runners in the field, with only one of them at a double figure price, which shows the competitive nature of this race.
Two of the runners won last time out, with Knockmaole Boy looking for a hat trick, and therefore seemingly in very good form.
When looking at the Instant Expert tab using the ‘place’ view, two of today’s runners have all green lines and are clearly suited by today’s conditions. Knockmaole boy is one of those although we can see that when looking in the end column ‘rating’ he has been raised six pounds for that latest win so will need to show further improvement to win again. Lean And Keen is the other runner with an all green line, and the ratings column shows us that he is actually two pounds lighter than his last victory. Castle Guest is a another that has slipped down the ratings to an attractive mark, and he shows up in a good light here, albeit without having run at this course before.
The pace tab shows that there is a large split between how the horses are likely to run, and with Castle Guest and Ruler Of France looking certain to go out in front on their own, a soft lead is a possibility from which they may be hard to peg back. The plus side for the hold up horses is that it’s not a large field, therefore coming from behind it should be easy enough to avoid trouble in running.
Changing reports now and looking at the ‘Hot Form’ report, it shows us that the first race in this mini run of wins for Knockmaole Boy was a very strong one, as ten subsequent runs from horses in that race have produced five winners and seven places with nice figures in the win and place P/L columns.
All in all this is a tough enough race to crack with the bookies unable to split the majority of the runners by too much. When looking at the above reports, I think the field can be narrowed down quite nicely, and depending on your personal preferences, hopefully the winner can be found.
