Race of the Day – 17:05 Thirsk
This is a two mile amateur riders’ handicap for horses rated 0-65, so it is not the best of races quality wise.
Rayadour is at the top of the Speed Ratings, although with a mark of 34 it is certainly nothing to write home about.
Chauvelin is trained by Nigel Tinkler, and he is the only trainer in the race that is in any kind of form currently. The green 14 below his name signifies good form over the past 14 days. By clicking on the black trainer icon below the horses name, it shows us this in more detail. Over the past 14 days, Tinkler has had five winners and eleven placed horses from 22 runners, which means he is in fine form. With a race of this quality following a trainer in form is a good start.
The Instant Expert tab isn’t hugely revealing. On the ‘place’ setting Kirkman has reasonable figures with a full line of amber, it is interesting to note that he is 12 pounds lighter than his last victory, therefore if he can find a bit of form he appears nicely weighted.
The statistics on the pace tab show that there isn’t any real advantage being in front over this course and distance. It looks likely that Kirkman and Dark Diamond will fight it out for the lead which could go one of two ways. If they are both really keen to be in front they could race each other and be burnt out before the final half a mile. Or they may get a soft lead with the rest of the field happy to let them bowl along in front, if that’s the case they may be able to help each other and get away from the others when they enter the home straight.
