Race of the Day – 25 Aug
Race of the Day – 18:40 Tipperary
Today’s Race of the Day is a five furlong Listed event, with a nice blend of horses, from a few up and coming youngsters to some seasoned veterans.
Aiden O’Brien runs the four year old The Happy Prince, and the trainer has been in pretty useful form of late, as well as having decent course form over the past five years. This can be seen from the green characters below the trainers name, and in more detail if clicking on the black trainer icon below the horses name.
The eight year old Gordon Lord Byron shows up really well on the Instant Expert tab. He has four green sections and one amber, with the most important aspect for me being that he has been placed two from two in today’s conditions. Soft to heavy isn’t a description you would normally expect for a flat race towards the end of August, and the fact that he is comfortable with this amount of give underfoot, and the rest of the field are all untried, is a big positive.
The pace tab shows that over a quarter of runners that have led the race have gone on to win. As this is just a five furlong race that makes sense and getting a good early position will be important.
Gracious John and Byzantium look likely to be at the head of affairs based on what they have done over their past four races.
