Race of the Day – 15:05 Ayr
It’s the Western meeting at Ayr today and this is a five furlong dash with 24 runners, therefore an extremely difficult race to unpick.
The Trainer Snippets report shows that Garry Moss has a really good record with flat turf runners, having an almost 25% win strike rate and just under 50% of his horses have been placed over the past two years. He runs Fumbo Jumbo here, who has been in decent form of late and is currently priced at around 10/1.
Trying to get a handle on the pace of the race is vitally important, especially in a sprint such as this. Leaders have a good record here in these conditions with a win rate of almost 20%. Failing that, being prominent is obviously next best so it makes sense to look for horses that are likely to be right up with the pace early on.
I’ll Be Good has the best ‘pace’ score from the past four races, closely followed by Dragon King, Fumbo Jumbo (mentioned above) and Hilary J.
