Race of the Day – 16:05 Lingfield
A 0-65 handicap on the polytrack at Lingfield over just under two miles and quite a tricky contest to pick a winner.
Four of the runners are making their handicap debut today and one of them, Iconic Sky, is of some interest to me. She steps up markedly in distance here, having run over ten furlongs twice and twelve furlongs last time out. She has a trainer in Lucy Wadham who has a very good record on the all-weather tracks. By clicking the black trainer icon below the horses name we can see that she has 10 wins (25%) and 18 places (45%) from 40 runners for an impressive 56.51 win P/L to level stakes. She is also ridden by Jim Crowley who is winning an awful lot of races as he chases the jockey’s championship.
The free report for all users on Tuesday’s is The Shortlist. From this report, on the place setting, Haling’s Wish stands out as being nicely suited to today’s conditions and at a price of 16/1 potentially may be a little overpriced.
The Instant Expert tab confirms the three sections of green for Halling’s Wish, and it also shows that not many of the other runners in this race are that well suited to today’s conditions. A slight caveat to this is that a few of these runners have only run a handful of times so could be untried in these conditions.
Even though this is a long distance flat race, the Pace tab shows us that racing at the head of affairs is a useful advantage. 18% of runners that have led the race early on over this course and distance have gone on to win for a level stakes P/L of 102.26.
Halling’s Wish and Denmead both look likely to be vying for the lead with Dynamo and Lily Edge also possibilities, based on their previous four runs.
