Race of the Day – 27 Sep

Race of the Day – 15:30 Southwell

A conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle for today’s Race of the Day, in what is a wide open race on first look.

As we can see from the race card, there are several recent winners in the field showing that a lot of them are coming here in form.

Very Extravagant is trained by Neil Mulholland and as can be seen by the green characters below his name, he is in excellent current form, and also worth noting that he has really good form at the course as well.

The Shortlist is one of my favourite reports for highlighting horses in with a great chance, and it is free to everyone on Tuesdays.

Doitforjoe scores 15 on The Shortlist which is the highest score possible, and in a wide open race this is an interesting outcome. He is making his handicap debut today, but in conditions that obviously suit, so he is definitely one for the shortlist.

The pace tab shows us that leading here does have an advantage, with a win record of 25 wins from 177 runners (14.12%), although this isn’t a huge total it does show a win P/L of 36.34 to level stakes.

Based on their last four races, Kamool, Love The Leader and Perfect Summer look likely to be fighting it out for the lead.

The trainer snippets tool is another excellent resource that Geegeez Gold subscribers have, and looking at it for today shows me that Graeme McPherson has a particularly decent record with middle distance range horses over the jumps. He has a big positive P/L for win and place to level stakes, therefore his runner here today, Kamool, is worth a second look.
