Race of the Day – 17:20 Salisbury
This is a competitive long distance handicap over one mile and six furlongs, with several recent winners in the field.
Pleasure Dome, trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, looks to be in great form and is chasing a four timer. However, when looking at the Full Form filter, we can see that one of those was a maiden, and the other two were lower grade handicaps. Therefore she is taking a step up in class today, with additional weight to carry. She is just a three year old so may be still be improving, but would need to come on again to make it another win.
The Shortlist is a report that can be excellent at highlighting horses with a chance, that may ordinarily slip under the radar, at big prices.
Rideonastar could be one of those in today’s race. He has won over course and distance, and is right at home on today’s going. At a price of 16/1, he is worth a closer look.
The Instant Expert tab further highlights the possibilities for Rideonastar as he is the stand out runner on this report. With three sections of green and two of amber, he looks really well suited by today’s conditions. It should be noted however, that he is eight pounds higher than his last winning mark, so would probably need to have improved again to go close.
Not Never is another who looks to have a chance from this report. He has only run over this distance once before, where he was second, and has won in this class and on the going. Again, he is a lot higher than his previous winning mark, so the same applies as with Rideonastar. Interestingly, he has the highest Speed Rating as well.
Horses that lead here, over this distance, have a very good record indeed with an almost 24% strike rate. There are quite few that like to get on with things in this field, but it looks like Not Never, Pleasure Dome, Champagne Champ and Rideonastar will all be right up there early on.
Trainer Snippets is a report that I would urge everyone to have a really good look at, as it can uncover some brilliant angles that would otherwise go unnoticed.
A snippet that I am particularly interested in for this race, is that of Brendan Powell with staying horses. He has a win record of 15.19% for a P/L to level stakes of 58.76, which is excellent going.
That win percentage improves further when racing here at Salisbury (18.92% for a level stakes P/L of 41.00). Therefore, given all of the above, I am quite keen on the each way chances of Rideonastar.
