Race of the Day – 15:55 Cheltenham

The Showcase at Cheltenham begins today and it signals that the National Hunt season is getting into gear.

This is a good looking novices’ chase over three miles and Gordon Elliott has the impressive looking favourite in Tiger Roll. He had a string of second places before winning last time out at Limerick over today’s distance.

The Instant Expert tab shows that Tiger Roll comes out very nicely with four sections of green and one of amber. Very importantly, in my opinion, is that he is the only one of the six runners to have run at Cheltenham, having won two out of three races at the course.

Heron Heights also looks good on this report, although not having run at the course or in this class, he has three sections of green, including being one from one at this distance.

When looking at the pace tab we can see that horses that run prominently have the best record, with a win P/L to level stakes of 10.51, from a sample of 173 runners.

Tempestatefloresco is usually handy in his races and looks a potential leader in today’s race. However, there is no out and out front runner which could lead to a muddling pace if none of them want to take it on. If this does happen it could play into the hands of a horse with plenty of proven speed like Tiger Roll, as he would fancy his chances of powering away up the hill.
