Race of the Day – 14:25 Newmarket
This is a ten furlong handicap at Newmarket on good going, for horses rated 0-85, and there is an interesting mix of seasoned handicappers, and some three year olds with only a handful of races to their name.
Wadigor, trained by Roger Varian, in one of these three years olds, and he has had just the one start so far. That was in a Wolverhampton maiden, and he won going away so there is potential he could be anything. Varian has a useful record with horses making their second start, with over 20% of them winning and more than half of them getting a place. Therefore, Wadigor is potentially one that has a decent chance here today.
Looking at the Instant Expert tab, a number of the runners here have two green sections, but none have more than that meaning there isn’t really a stand out horse from this report.
Little Lady Katie is the only one to have won twice at the course, and also to have won in this field size.
Early leaders here over this distance have a pretty good record, with a strike rate of 16.88% and a level stakes profit of 11.92 from 308 runners.
Ocean Eleven looks sure to try and force the pace, he has won his last two races by making all and I am confident that Adam Kirby will employ the same tactics again, although being drawn 12 of 12 may not help, as we will see below. He is up another four pounds today but he was a ready winner last time out and is clearly in good form, however it remains to be seen whether he is capable of doing the same on the better ground he will encounter here.
Low drawn runners have a definite advantage here at Newmarket over this distance, as can be seen from the graphic below. They are actually showing a level stakes profit of 16.25 from the 59 runs in this sample.
The main pace from the low drawn horses looks like it will come from Compton Mill and potentially Little Lady Katie. They will surely hope to get an easy lead where they are able to dictate how the race pans out.
Horses For Courses is a very useful report for highlighting horses that appear to favour a particular track, and this report is free to all users on a Friday.
Little Lady Katie has two wins and three placed efforts from her five races here at Newmarket, and she has a level stakes profit of 18.00 and 22.65 respectively. She is currently priced at 12/1, and may be a bit of value as an each way selection.
