Race of the Day – 23 Nov
Race of the Day – 15:50 Hereford
A wide open 0-105 handicap hurdle over almost two and a half miles, with plenty of runners appearing to be in with a chance.
Evans Williams, who runs Jinsha Lake here today, has been in useful form of late, as can be seen by the green 14 and 30 below the trainers name. It is also interesting to note (by clicking on the black trainer icon below the horses name), that Williams has a particularly good record with hurdlers. He actually has a level stakes profit of 31.48 from his last 444 runners, which is excellent going.
The Instant Expert tab highlights that not a lot of the field have a great record in today’s conditions. On the place setting, only a handful of runners have more than one section of green.
One of those is Winged Express, he has two sections of green and one of amber, which shows he at least has some form that is relevant. Like many of these, he hasn’t raced at the course before.
Pepperello and Hot Pepper look likely to be setting the pace, as that is the running style they usually adopt. The Pace tab shows us that leaders don’t have that big an advantage over the rest of the field as is sometimes the case, with less than 12% going on to take victory.
Venetia Williams is a trainer to follow when she comes to Hereford. She’s had eight winners (22.86%) and 13 placed horses (37.14%) from 35 runners over the past five years for a level stakes profit of 28.38. She runs Super Sam here today, who is currently priced at around 13/2.
This detail can be found using the Trainer Statistics report (which is free to all users on a Wednesday). It is an extremely valuable part of the geegeez gold armoury, as it can be very helpful in highlighting where trainers have a particular habit of doing well.
