Race of the Day – 5 Dec
Race of the Day – 14:05 Ludlow
We kick the week off with a mares’ handicap hurdle over two miles, and there appears to be a few decent young runners in the line up.
Dan Skelton runs Late Night Lily here today, and she is making her handicap debut. Skelton has a useful record at Ludlow over the past year, with four winners from 12 runners (33.33%) and a level stakes profit of 9.85.
Bella has a full line of green on The Shortlist, for high score of 15. She is clearly suited by the race conditions today and looks like she potentially could be a bit of value at 6/1.
David Pipe and Tom Scudamore team up with Bella, and they have an excellent record together at Ludlow over the last five years. The Trainer Jockey Combo Stats report shows us their record in more detail. From 20 runners they have had seven winners (35%) and nine places (45%) for level stakes profits of 26.04 and 28.29 respectively. This shows that as a combination, they collect at Ludlow, more often than not.
As well as Bella looking good on the Instant Expert tab, Midnight Tour has four sections of green and it’s just the Class she is untried in. She is currently the 7/4 favourite after her facile win at Hereford last time out, and looks a horse with serious potential. She has been hit with an 11 pound hike in the weights for that win however, and with this being a useful looking field, she will need to be very good to go in again
Favorite Girl and Bella look likely to be at the head of affairs early on, with both having high scores on the Pace tab.
This course and distance definitely favours leaders and prominently run horses, with runners that take up a position in mid division, or are held up, having a dreadful record.
