Race of the Day – 12:35 Lingfield
This is a seven furlong selling stakes on the artificial surface at Lingfield. As can reasonably be expected from a race of this quality, the standard of runners differs a lot and there is a huge variance on official ratings.
Tom Dascombe has been in fine form of late, with six winners from his last 17 runners (35.29%) for a level stakes profit of 20.50. He runs Dana’s Present here today and he is currently a 10/1 shot.
It isn’t a surprise that for a selling stakes the Instant Expert tab doesn’t have a huge amount of green sections on it.
GreyFriarschorista has one section of green and three of amber, which is about the best on offer in this field. He is just four pounds higher than for his last win, so if he is in form, he certainly has a chance.
Early leaders here over this distance have a very good record indeed, with over 23% of them going on to win the race, for a level stakes profit of 195.51 from 260 runners. Over half of them have also placed for 97.34 points to level stakes, showing it is a real advantage to be right up there early on.
Ballylare, Brasted and Jackpot appear the three most likely to be fighting it for the lead, based on their previously runnings, as they have easily the highest scores on the Pace tab.
Jackpot can be easily dismissed at the weights, however the favourite Ballylare looks really well in with most of the field, so must have a great chance given his running style.
David Evans has really strong record here at Lingfield over the past year. When looking at the Trainer Statistics report (which is free to all users on a Wednesday), he’s had 18 winners from 78 runners (23.08%) in this time, for a level stakes profit of 17.40. He runs Greyfriarschorista today and he looks to have a chance given what we have looked at.
