Race of the Day – 19:00 Chelmsford
A 0-75 fillies’ handicap over one mile and two furlongs on the all-weather track at Chelmsford for Race of the Day, and it’s a very competitive looking race.
Maqam is making her handicap debut today, as can be seen from the ‘HC1’ next to her name, and Hannon has a very useful record here at Chelmsford with such horses. If you click on the HC1 it will bring up a separate report, which shows he’s had four winners (25.00%) and six places (37.50%) for level stakes profits of 11.85 and 11.26 respectively.
Clicking on the trainer icon below the horses name shows that Hannon also has a very good record with horses running after a break of 60+ days. From 311 runners he has a level stakes profit of 37.14, which makes Maqam an interesting proposition here today at 10/1.
With the Instant Expert tab on the place setting, a few of the runners show up well.
Polymnia has three sections of green and two of amber, showing she is nicely suited by the race conditions. At 7/1 she looks like she has a decent chance of making the frame, as she’s definitely at home in this class of race.
Leaders here over this distance have an excellent record, with over 26% of them going on to win the race for a level stakes profit of 75.44.
Tabla is a confirmed front runner and along with Dame Judi, Princess Raihanna and Power Up, will likely be taking the field along. As there are four of them that are usually fairly handy in races, there could be quite a decent pace set, therefore I wouldn’t put somebody off backing a hold up horse, as long as they are able to go close enough to the pace early on.
Low drawn runners look to have the advantage over this distance, with over 30% of them obtaining a place, and a level stakes profit being returned for both the win and place.
With Princess Raihana and Tabla being drawn one and four, they have a great chance of getting to the first bend in front, and being able to dictate the pace from there.
