Race of the Day – 10 Jan

Race of the Day – 17:10 Wolverhampton

This is a 0-65 handicap on the artificial surface at Wolverhampton, raced over almost nine furlongs.

Richard Spencer and George Baker have both been in decent form of late, as can be seen by the green characters below their respective names. If you click on either the trainer of jockey icons below the horses name, you will be able to see this in more detail.

They team up with Rebel State here today, and he is at the top of the official ratings, as well as the Speed Ratings, and is joint favourite at 5/1.

What Usain makes it onto The Shortlist (which is the report that is free to all users on a Tuesday) with a score of 13. He has four sections of green and one of amber, showing he is very well suited by today’s race conditions, and at a price of 10/1, could prove to be a bit of value. He is also second in the Speed Ratings, to add some weight to the argument for him.

The Instant Expert tab confirms the good showing of What Usain, and also shows that he is just four pounds higher than for his last victory.

Scribner Creek also comes out well here, with four section of green. This is from quite a small sample of races (which will be why he hasn’t made The Shortlist), but he has proven he can win this type of race.

Leaders and prominently raced horses have the best record here over this distance, although it doesn’t appear to be a huge advantage, given that neither of those specifications has a green pace ‘blob’. We can call it a ‘slight’ advantage.

Admirable Art is a confirmed front runner and likely to be jostling for the lead with Rebel State and The Magic Pencil, when taking into consideration their past four races.
