Race of the Day – 8 Feb

Race of the Day – 17:10 Chelmsford

We head to the all weather at Chelmsford for Race of the Day, and a seven furlong handicap for those rated 0-60.

It’s a very open looking race with Whaleweigh Station the current favourite at 3/1. Oisin Murphy takes the ride and he has been in excellent form over the last 30 days, he also has a very good course record too. He actually has a level stakes profit of 29.75 from 30 rides over the last year here at Chelmsford, which is a super return.

The Instant Expert tab shows that very few of the runners are suited by today’s race conditions, with hardly any green to be seen.

All Or Nothin comes out best here, with two sections of green and one of amber. He is also just the two pounds heavier than for his last win, so at 9/1 may represent a little bit of each way value in a wide open race.

Leaders and prominent horses have easily the best record here over this distance, with 19.09% of leaders and 13.54% of prominent runners going on to win their races, for level stakes profits of 1.70 and 26.53 respectively. This shows that it is definitely preferable to be towards the head of proceedings early on.

All Or Nothin and Hipz are both usually away very quickly and look the most likely to be leading them early doors. They are also drawn right next to each other in stalls four and five, therefore may push each other along out the gate.

Trainer Statistics is the free report for all users on a Wednesday, and today it shows what an incredibly good record John Butler has here at Chelmsford. He’s had six winners and ten places from his last 29 runners, for level stakes profits of 90.80 and 109.05 respectively. Adam Kirby is booked for the ride on Siege Of Boston in this one, which is usually a fair tip in itself, for somebody who generally gets his pick of the runners in races such as this.
