Race of the Day – 15:00 Southwell
We head to Southwell for Race of the Day, and a one mile and six furlong handicap for those rated 0-75.
Katie Gale is the current favourite at around 2/1, and she has been in very consistent form, without getting her head in front. She may have dropped down to a winnable mark now, and this appears to be her optimum distance, boasting a course and distance win from just three pounds lower in 2015.
Chris Dwyer, who runs Noguchi here today, has an excellent record with his all weather runners. Clicking on the black trainer icon below the horses name shows his record in detail. We can see that on the all weather he’s had 46 winners (17.10%) and 102 places (37.92%) from 269 runners, for level stakes profits of 61.98 and 52.35 respectively.
Katie Gale shows up about the best on the Instant Expert tab, and it highlights what an excellent record she has here at Southwell. She has won here five times from eleven races for 7.28 points profit at level stakes, which is impressive. Overall she has two sections of green and three of amber, so looks to have things quite nicely in her favour today.
Noguchi is very well suited by this distance, winning three out of seven races run over 14 furlongs, and he is four pounds lower than for his last victory.
From looking at the Pace tab we can see that the running style doesn’t really have a huge effect on how the ran pans out. Prominent runners have just the best record with a strike rate of 14.45%, but it isn’t by much.
It looks like a reasonable pace could be set, as Katie Gale, Samtu and Pinwood are all usually quite handy in the early stages of their races.
