Race of the Day – 9 Mar

Race of the Day – 14:45 Southwell

Today’s Race of the Day is a selling stakes on the all weather at Southwell, being run over a mile and a half.

Paris Bound is the youngster of the field at four years old, and he’s had just the two races on the all weather tracks so far. However both his trainer Andrew Balding, and jockey David Probert, have very good records here at Southwell. Probert’s record here over the last five years is 16 winners (20.51%) and 28 places (35.90%), for level stakes profits of 53.33 and 41.39 respectively.

La Estrella was a creditable fifth on his comeback last time out over two miles, and a win here today would make it a record 28 wins in this sphere, for the remarkable 14 year old.

The Instant Expert report (which is free for every race to all users on a Thursday) highlights what an amazing career La Estrella has had. He has a lovely full line of green, and from a very large sample of races. His record here at Southwell is something to behold, and although he may not retain all of the old ability, it is great to still see him racing.

Luv U Whatever also has very good course form, and he is one of the highest on the official ratings.

From looking at the Pace tab we can see that leaders here over this distance have quite a good record, with over 15% of them going on to win the race, for level stakes profits of 13.05.

Luv U Whatever is a confirmed front runner, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Andrew Mullen shoot off in front and try to make all.

Brassbound is also normally quite handy, and he may give Luv U Whatever a bit of competition for the early lead.
