Race of the Day – 16:00 Lingfield
This is a very nice looking handicap being run over one and a half miles on the all weather at Lingfield, with almost £12k going to the winner.
The excellent Adam Kirby rides Retrieve, and Kirby has a quite brilliant record here at Lingfield over the past five years. He’s had 198 winners (20.71%) from 956 races for a level stakes profit of 22.84, which is amazing going over such a large sample of races.
Abareeq is trained by Mark Johnston and ridden by Joe Fanning, and these two are an excellent team who have been among the winners over the past 30 days. You can see this by the green 30 below their names, and if you click on the trainer and jockey icons below the horses name, you will be able to see the detail behind this.
Retrieve has four sections of green on the Instant Expert report, so looks nicely suited to this race. However this is only from a handful of races, so a bit of caution to putting too much weight behind this. He is three pounds lower than for his last victory though, so if the ten year old can rediscover some old form, he could make the frame.
Bayre has one section of green and four of amber, from quite a large amount of races. He is also just the one pound higher than his last win, so looks to be quite a strong favourite.
The Pace tab shows us that there is no real bias when it comes to running styles here over this distance. Leaders, prominent runners and those in mid division are all within 1% of each other, showing that no real advantage exists here.
Sennockian Star looks certain to break away quickly and lead them along, as he has easily the highest pace score, and there are no other real front runners in the race.
Horses For Courses is a report that is free to all users on a Friday, and it is excellent at finding horses that return to a certain course and do well time and again.
Barye has a brilliant record here at Lingfield, having won three times (50%) and been placed four times (66.67%) from six races, for level stakes profits of 7.75 and 8.69 respectively. He is the current favourite at around 2/1, but looks to have a great chance of taking this valuable prize.
