Race of the Day – 4 Apr

Race of the Day – 17:25 Southwell

There is a small but competitive looking field of five runners, for this 14 furlong handicap on the all weather at Southwell.

Ominotago is the current favourite, and she is ridden today by Silvestre De Sousa. She is in really good form at the moment, having won 10/34 (29.41%) and been placed 19/34 (55.88%) over the past 14 days for level stakes profits of 15.80 and 22.81 respectively. She also has useful course form winning six from his last 21 races for a level stakes profit of 16.00.

The Shortlist is free to all users on a Tuesday and is it very good for quickly highlighting runners that are well suited by the day’s racing conditions. When put on the ‘Place’ setting, Denmead comes out well, having four sections of green and a score of 11. His only non green section is for Class, but he has been running very consistently and must have a chance of competing here today.

Eurato is another who looks nicely suited by today’s racing conditions, as when looking at the Instant Expert report, we can see that he has two sections of green and three of amber. He is also just the two pounds higher than for his last victory, so is another that if running to his level, or improving a little, will be in with a shout.

When looking at the Pace tab we can see that it is runners that sit just in behind the early leaders that have the best record, with prominent horses going on to win 14.29% of the time.

Eurato looks the most likely leader based on the last four runs, however none of the horses are out and out front runners meaning this has the potential for be a falsely run race, and could turn into a mad dash for a line if the last few furlongs.
