Stat of the Day – 8th April 2017
Friday’s Result
18:45 Kempton: Hammer Gun @ 11/4 BOG 4th at 7/2
Saturday’s pick goes in the…
Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.
Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.
Who?
Finian’s Oscar @ 10/3
Why?
The Tizzard yard has been slowly returning to form, but it did so with a bang today, scoring a quite brilliant treble. Robbie Power was on two of them, and takes the ride on Finian’s Oscar.
Finian’s Oscar is unbeaten under rules, and looks to have a great profile. He shapes as if the firmer ground won’t be a problem, and in my opinion, looks the one to beat here today.
The following stats are applicable here.
- trainer Colin Tizzard here at Aintree over the last five years is 7/40 (17.50%) for 27.49pts
- with middle distance runners he is 64/369 (17.34%) for 8.89pts
- jocket Robbie Power for the last 30 days is 5/28 (17.86%) for 12.80pts
- Finian’s sire, Oscar, with three to five year olds is 80/506 (15.81%) for 131.36pts
…giving us… a 1pt win bet on Finian’s Oscar @ 10/3 BOG which was available from Paddy Power at 19:20 on Friday. To see what your preferred bookie is offering, simply…

Don’t forget, we offer a full interactive racecard service every day!
REMINDER: THERE IS NO STAT OF THE DAY ON SUNDAYS
P.S. all P/L returns quoted in the stats are to Betfair SP, as (i) I NEVER bet to ISP and neither should you and (ii) although inferior to the BOG odds we secure, BFSP is the nearest approximation I can give, so I actually expect to beat the returns quoted.
