Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.
Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.
Beneficial Joe @ 11/4 BOG
This 7yr old gelding was in sparkling form last autumn/winter finishing 121 I in his last three runs before being rested.
He’s hasn’t actually raced over this 2m7f trip before, but he is 2 from 2 over 2m7.5f, with both wins coming in similar sized fields to today.
He now returns from a break of 28 weeks, but that doesn’t concern me too much as Graeme McPherson is very good at getting horses ready after a break and his handicappers racing with either no run or just one outing in the previous 90 days are 37/286 (12.9% ROI) for 301.8pts (+105.5% ROI) since 2010.
In addition to the above, his LTO winners are 9 from 39 (23.1% SR) over the last 18 months, including…
- in handicaps : 9/34 (26.5%) for 4.48pts (+13.2%)
- hurdlers are 9/29 (31%) for 9.48pts (+32.7%)
- those priced at 7/1 and shorter are 9/24 (37.5%) for 14.48pts (+60.3%)
- and Class 4 runners are 5/16 (31.25%) for 3.86pts (+24.1%)
AND…handicap hurdlers priced at 7/1 and shorter are 9/19 (47.4% SR) for 19.48pts (+102.5% ROI) with Class 4 runners winning 5 of 9 (55.6%) for 10.86pts (+120.6%)
…but first…a 1pt win bet on Beneficial Joe @ 11/4 BOG which was widely available at 9.20pm on Friday. To see what your preferred bookie is offering, simply…
Don’t forget, we offer a full interactive racecard service every day!
REMINDER: THERE IS NO STAT OF THE DAY ON SUNDAYS
P.S. all P/L returns quoted in the stats are to Betfair SP, as (i) I NEVER bet to ISP and neither should you and (ii) although inferior to the BOG odds we secure, BFSP is the nearest approximation I can give, so I actually expect to beat the returns quoted.
