Race of the Day – 17:00 Yarmouth

This is quite a nice looking three year old handicap being raced over a mile, on good to firm ground at Yarmouth.

Across Dubia has only had the one run so far, which was a maiden that he won last autumn on the all weather surface at Lingfield. He is the short priced favourite here today, and his trainer William Haggas has been among the winners recently, and also has a wonderful long term record here at Yarmouth. Over the past five years he’s had 35 winners (31.25%) and 56 places (50%) for level stakes profits of 24.58 and 17.79 respectively. Jockey Pat Cosgrave also has a very good long term record at this course.

The Shortlist is the report that is free to all users on a Tuesday, and for the race we are looking at, Zymyran has a perfect score of 15. This Henrythenavigator colt is clearly very well suited by the racing conditions here today, and looks to have every possibility of a big run, at juicy odds of 10/1.

The Instant Expert report confirms the good showing of Zymyran, however it should be noted that he is a full 14 pounds higher than for his last win. Therefore, with the quality that is in this field, he will need to have improved quite a lot to be competitive today.

Ernststavroblofeld has four sections of green with the only section of red being for the distance. He stayed on well enough over a mile at Newmarket to suggest the trip isn’t a problem, and I can see him being a big player in this.

From looking at the Pace report we can see that early leaders here over this distance have a reasonable record, with 16.60% of them winning the race, for a level stakes profit of 15.77.

Horses that are held up off the pace are next best, with 11.42% of them winning, for a large level stakes profit of 144.63.

X Rated and Dubai Waves are usually very quickly away and they look very likely to be at the head of affairs early on in this race.
