Race of the Day – 8 May

Race of the Day – 18:10 Chelmsford

This is a one mile and five furlong handicap on the all weather surface at Chelmsford, for those rated 0-65.

Silvestre De Sousa rides the current favourite Wordiness, and De Sousa has had plenty of recent winners, as well as excellent course form. Over the past 30 days he’s had 22 winners (22.92%) and 44 places (45.83%) from 96 runenrs, for level stakes profits of 32.55 and 38.45 respectively. Here at Chelmsford over the last five years he’s 43/183 (23.50%), for a level stakes profit of 29.98, therefore he is definitely a jockey to keep on side.

The Juggler is trained by William Knight, who has been among the winners recently, and also has a very useful record with flat staying horses. If you click the black trainer icon below the horses name, you can see this in a lot more detail.

If we look at the Instant Expert report on the ‘Place’ setting, then it’s Marshall Aid that stands out the most. He has three sections of green and two of amber, showing us that he is nicely suited by today’s racing conditions. He is one of the few that is comfortable with today’s distance, and has also shown form here at Chelmsford.

Wordiness has four sections of amber, and interestingly is a full 20 pounds lower than for his last win. Therefore, if he is in anything like his old form, then he has a real chance in this.

The Pace report shows that both early leaders here over this distance, and horses that like to race prominently, have the best records, with a little under 17% of both of these going on to win the race.

Bridey’s Lettuce and Oyster Card have the highest pace score based on the last four runs of each horse. They are both usually very handy, and with low drawn runners having a definite advantage, Bridey’s Lettuce looks the most likely to be taking them along through the first few furlongs.

The Sire Snippets report confirms what an incredible record Archipenko has with runners on the all weather tracks. He’s produced 33 winners (15.71%) and 74 places (35.24%) from 210 runners, for level stakes profits of 158.64 and 161.86 respectively. The Juggler is his offspring here today and looks to have an excellent chance of grabbing a place at least.
