Race of the Day – 21:05 Chepstow
This is quite a low grade two mile handicap at Chepstow, but it is a really open race from a betting perspective, that can hopefully be narrowed down to a few possible winners.
Kashgar was a winner last time out over course and distance, however that was on slightly firmer ground, and he has been raised two pounds for that win. His trainer, Bernard Llewellyn, has a pretty good record with his long distance flat runners, and doesn’t do too badly with last time out winners.
Urban Space has come tumbling down the weights over the past year to what is a very attractive mark, if he can rediscover some form. He was well beaten over course and distance last time out, but the return to good going will definitely suit, and he has since been dropped a further three pounds.
A few of these runners look quite good on the Instant Expert report, with My Mo having three sections of green and two of amber. He has won the only time he has raced here and definitely has a liking for today’s going.
Urban Space has three sections of green and two of amber, and is also six pounds lower than for his last victory.
Both of these horses appear very well suited by today’s racing conditions, and it wouldn’t surprise me if either of them went very close.
The Pace report shows that both early leaders here over this distance and prominent runners have the best records, however, as could be reasonably expected for a flat race of this length, it doesn’t have a huge bias.
Kirkman, Skylark Lady and See And Be Seen are all usually very handy and with the three of them being quite keen to get on with things, this may be run at quite a decent pace for the distance.
Horses For Courses is the report that is available to all users on a Friday, and it shows what an excellent record Urban Space has here at Chepstow. He has won four times (36.36%) and been placed 9 times (81.82%) from 11 races, for level stakes profits of 10.50 and 20.28 respectively. In a race that I don’t think will take a lot of winning and with conditions in his favour, I think he is overpriced at 9/1.
