Race of the Day – 19 Jun

Race of the Day – 19:15 Windsor

This is a good quality six furlong handicap on good to firm ground at Windsor.

The Richard Hughes trained King Of Spin has been on a very good run, winning three of his last five races, with one of those races being over course and distance. He has gone up the handicap quite a bit as a result of those three wins, and hasn’t raced on ground firmer than good. Therefore, he will need to have improved again to win with this weight, and the unknown on this ground is a concern.

The current favourite is Bahamian Dollar, at a price of around 9/4. He hasn’t been winning but has run consistently in a number of races, with three second places in his last five races. His sole win was over six furlongs on this ground, however he was held last time out from today’s mark, and this looks a stronger race.

With the Instant Expert report on the ‘Place’ setting, it is Pretty Bubbles who stands out from the rest. She has four sections of green and one of amber, showing that these conditions are definitely to her liking. She has been dropped another pound in the weights after her last run, but is still five pounds higher than for her last win, therefore she is going to have to be somewhere close to her best to get (which isn’t out of the question with conditions to suit) to be involved in this.

Bahamian Dollar also looks reasonably well suited by this one, with two sections of green and three of amber.

The Pace report shows us that early leaders here over this distance have a very good record, with 18.16% of them winning the race, for a level stakes profit of 39.78.

Ginzan and Handytalk both usually race very prominently early on, and it looks likely that the early lead will be between these two.

Pretty Bubbles is usually held up but it will be interesting to see if James Doyle tries a different tactic this time, in a bid to change her fortunes.

From looking at the Trainer Statistics report we can see that Eve Johnson Houghton continues to be in an excellent run of form. Over the past 30 days she’s had 12 winners (22.64%) and 25 places (47.17%) from 53 runners, for level stakes profits of 44.75 and 56.72 respectively. She runs Cool Bahamian in this who is currently priced at around 10/1.
