Stat of the Day, 25th July 2017

Monday’s Result :

7.55 Beverley : Navarone @ 7/2 BOG 4th at 11/2 Tracked leaders, 2nd over 1f out until inside final furlong, lost 3rd close home.

Tuesday’s pick goes in the…

7.00 Chelmsford…

Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.

Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.

A 4yr old gelding who has two wins from his last four outings and his career record on the A/W reads 411. He was beaten at Newcastle back in November and since then he’s 2 from 2 on the artificial tracks, both here at Chelmsford in Class 3, 6f handicaps similar to today’s race, including an LTO win 34 days ago.

He’s 1 from 1 under today’s jockey Connor Beasley, who rides this track very well indeed, having won 10 of 41 (24.4% SR) handicap races here generating level stakes profits of 32.45pts at a very attractive ROI of 79.2%.

And that’s probably enough to vindicate a bet at decent looking odds of , but there’s always another layer to uncover, isn’t there, so how about the trainer?

Well, Richard Guest also does well enough here at Chelmsford, despite not sending many runners on the 380-mile round trip (maybe that’s why!) from his base near Wetherby. But, since the start of 2016, his charges are 7/23 (30.4% SR) for 78.47pts (+341.2% ROI) profit here and all of those were handicappers, including…

  • males at 5/14 (35.7%) for 31.87pts (+227.6%)
  • those ridden by Connor Beasley : 4/10 (40%) for 13.75pts (+137.5%)
  • 4yr olds are 4/7 (57.1%) for 9.82pts (+140.2%)
  • those priced shorter than 6/1 are 4/6 (66.6%) for 10.82pts (+180.3%)
  • over 6f : 3/6 (50%) for 8.94pts (+149%)
  • and at Class 3 : 2/2 (100%) for 3.44pts (+172%)

P.S. all P/L returns quoted in the stats above are to Betfair SP, as I NEVER bet to ISP and neither should you. I always use BOG bookies for SotD, wherever possible, but I use BFSP for the stats as it is the nearest approximation I can give, so I actually expect to beat the returns I use to support my picks. If that’s unclear, please ask!
