Calling Out makes it on to The Shortlist for a nine-furlong conditions stakes on the all-weather at Wolverhampton today, with an impressive four sections of green and one of amber. This makes it a score of 13 and shows that he appears well suited to today’s conditions.
Calling Out was outpaced over a mile at Chelmsford last time out in what was his first run for ten months.
He now returns to a trip and course that appears to suit him and three races ago was an easy winner here over this distance from just two pounds lower in the handicap.
The Trainer Snippets on the racecard shows that trainer David Simcock has been in good form recently. Over the past 30 days, he’s had seven winners (25.93%) and nine places (33.33%) from 27 runners, for level stakes profits of 17.48 and 8.75 respectively and an Impact Value of 2.36.
Jockey Sean Levey has a useful record here at Wolverhampton over the past year. He is 4/19 (21.05%) for an Impact Value of 1.94.
The Instant Expert report confirms the good showing of Calling Out and also shows that he is just the two pounds higher than for his last victory (although with this being a conditions race that is not really relevant).
Pactolus also looks reasonably well suited with two sections of green and two of amber.
The Pace report shows that early leaders and prominent runners here over this distance have the best records, although both of these have amber pace ‘blobs’ rather than green, therefore, it’s not a huge bias.
There doesn’t really appear to be an out and out front-runner in this field, although Calling Out and Enigmatic are both usually quite prominent in their races.
