The Trainer Jockey Combo Stats report shows that Nicky Henderson and Nico De Boinville have been in incredible form together over the past 30 days. They have managed to have 14 winners (45.16%) and 20 places (64.53%) from 31 runners, for level stakes profits of 24.61 and 28.06 respectively, and an Impact Value of 4.09.
They have runners together at Newbury today and it’s Whatswrongwithyou that I am going to be taking a closer look at, and he runs in a two-mile novices’ hurdle.
Whatswrongwithyou was second last time out at Sandown in what looked like a stronger race than today’s. He travelled extremely well through that race and was outbattled on the run-in by a smart looking horse, and I think a repeat of that performance may be good enough in this.
As well as being in excellent current form, Henderson also has a good record here at Newbury. Ove the past year he’s had 12 winners (27.91) and 23 places (53.49%) for level stakes profits of 7.73 and 10.74 respectively, and an Impact Value of 2.77.
As De Boinville rides the majority of his races for Henderson, his form pretty much mirrors that of the trainer and he too has excellent current form and brilliant course form. For the past year, he has a strike rate of one in three for 13.86 points and an Impact Value of 3.31, which is excellent going.
There isn’t a great deal of form on show when looking at the Instant Expert report with this being a novice race, but Whatswrongwithyou does have three sections of green, so looks quite well suited to today’s conditions.
The other Henderson runner and odds-on favourite OK Corral has four sections of green so will be an obvious danger.
There is very little bias in the Pace report as the sample size is so small.
Whatswrongwithyou has been held up on his last three outings and I expect De Boinville to track Geraghty on the favourite OK Corral and then try and pass him after the final flight.
