The Trainer Snippets report shows that Anthony Honeyball has an exceptional record with his runners in national hunt flat races. From his last 42 runners in bumpers, he’s had 14 winners (33.33%) and 21 places (50%), for level stakes profits of 16.61 and 11.39 respectively and an Impact Value of 3.22.
He runs Rebound in the bumper at Ludlow and he is currently priced around 11/4.
Rebound was the well-fancied 13/8 favourite on his debut in a bumper at Fontwell but could only finish second. He ran well enough but was a little outpaced and looked as though the softer conditions he encounters here today will be more to his liking.
The winner of that race (Dell Oro) has run in a grade one at Punchestown and won a novice hurdle at Ascot since, so it may just be that Rebound ran into a very good horse first time out.
The Honeyball yard has been in fantastic form recently and has had some very good winners. Over the past 30 days, he’s managed nine winners (37.5%) and 12 places (50%) from 24 runners, for level stakes profits of 12.41 and 8.11 respectively and an Impact Value of 3.40.
He rarely sends his horses to Ludlow as he’s had just the four runners here in the past five years, and of those four there was a winner and two places.
Jockey Andrew Tinkler appears to enjoy riding here at Ludlow, as over the past year he’s had two winners (15.38%) and seven places (53.85%) from 13 runners, for level stakes profits of 19.00 and 29.35 respectively and an Impact Value of 1.29.
Dan Skelton has a fancied horse in this race and Flash The Steel is the current 11/8 favourite. He was second last time out over this course but I am hopeful that Rebound has found the necessary improvement since his last one to go one better here today.
