Trotter makes it on to The Shortlist in a six-furlong sprint at Wolverhampton today, with a nice full line of green and a perfect score of 15 when on the ‘Place’ setting.
He looks extremely well suited to conditions today and I am hoping for a big run at a current price of around 7/1.
Trotter has been running consistently well over the winter with three placed finishes and won last time out over course and distance. That was in a race that actually looks a little stronger than this one and he has only been raised the two pounds for that victory.
Liam Keniry rode him for the first time last time out and keeps the ride again.
Trainer Stuart Kittow has a decent record here at Wolverhampton. Over the past five years, he’s had five winners (16.13%) and ten places (32.36%) from 31 runners, for level stakes profits of 9.00 and 1.98 respectively and an Impact Value of 1.43.
Keniry’s form has been good recently and he’s been riding winners. Over the past 30 days, he’s had four winners (15.38%) and nine places (34.62%) from 26 runners, for level stakes profits of 30.00 and 54.25 respectively and an Impact Value of 1.28.
The Instant Exper report highlights the good showing of Trotter in these conditions and also shows that the rest of the field aren’t necessarily that well suited, as the next best is Pulsating, with two sections of green.
This also shows what I mentioned earlier in that Trotter is just the two pounds higher than for his last win, so a repeat of that performance will surely see him go close.
The Pace report shows that early leaders here over this distance have the best record, with 10.57% of them going on to win the race, for a level stakes profit of 46.50 and an Impact Value of 1.21.
There doesn’t appear to be a huge amount of pace in this race, but it does look likely that Keniry will hold Trotter up and look to come from off the pace again.
