Race of the Day – 20:05 Chelmsford

The Trainer Jockey Combo Stats report shows that Dean Ivory and Robert Winston have an excellent record together in handicaps at Chelmsford over the past year. They have managed six winners (28.57%) and ten places (47.62%) from 21 runners, for level stakes profits of 15.00 and 13.85 respectively and an Impact Value of 2.61.

They team up with Eljaddaaf in a seven-furlong handicap here at Chelmsford today.

Eljaddaaf got going too long to do any damage last time out (although was staying on strongly towards the finish), but his form prior to that was great, with two second-placed finishes followed by two wins. One of those wins was here at Chelmsford where he was going away at the finish and with Robert Winston back on board today, I think he has a good chance of being competitive.

He is currently priced around 11/2 and this appears big for the top weight who is also well clear on the Speed Ratings.

Dean Ivory has a good strike rate here at Chelmsford over the past year. He is 11/71 (14.56%) for a level stakes profit of 12.75 and an Impact Value of 1.35.

His horses have been running consistently over the past couple of weeks as well, with over half of them getting at least a place.

The Instant Expert report shows that Eljaddaaf is nicely suited to today’s conditions, with two sections of green and three of amber. He is also just the four pounds higher than his previous mark so looks to have what it takes to be in the mix here.

Lucymai also looks very well suited to this one, having four section and green and one of amber.

From looking at the Pace report we can see that early leaders here over this distance have the best record, with 17.98% of them going on to win the race, for a level stakes profit of 23.59 and an Impact Value of 1.67.

Eljaddaaf is usually a horse that is held up and waited with and I expect Winston to do that again today, although I think he may look to close the gap on the leaders earlier than Jack Duern did last time.
