Geegeez Writer Receives Derby Award Nomination
The quality of geegeez.co.uk’s editorial content received a welcome fillip this week with the news that its editor and chief correspondent, Matt Bisogno, has been nominated for a Derby Award in the Specialist Writer category.
Bisogno sits alongside high profile attheraces.com duo Simon Rowlands and Kevin Blake, as well as Racing Post’s Paul Kealy, in the quartet of nominees for this new award at what are considered to be the Oscars of horseracing writing.
Surprised and mightily chuffed to get a nomination for the new HWPA Specialist Writer category.
It's obviously a personal thrill to be in such estimable company, but it also means a huge amount as a publisher of a relatively small independent site to be recognised. Happy day. https://t.co/YIyBhwd0s2

Blake was also nominated in the Racing Writer category alongside Thoroughbred Daily News’s Chris McGrath and Racing Post’s Lee Mottershead and Peter Scargill. Mottershead also received dual nominations, receiving recognition in the Reporter of the Year category; Bill Barber, industry editor at the Post, Chris Cook of the Guardian and Marcus Townend of the Daily Mail rounding out the final four.
Congratulations to all nominees, especially our very own Matt Bisogno. The winners will be announced on 2nd December at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
